Range Rover Evoque Five-Door Confirmed for Production
Just as we suspected from previous spy photos, Land Rover has officially announced that it will build a five-door version of the 2012 Range Rover Evoque just unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.
We last spied the Evoque (known in concept form as the LRX) wearing the duds of the Land Rover LR2 during testing at the Nürburgring. Although there were rumors of a stopgap model to be added to Land Rover's lineup, a five-door Evoque wasn't officially confirmed -- until now.
At the Paris Motor Show, Land Rover managing director Phil Popham confirmed that a five-door Evoque will indeed enter production. Land Rover has also released the first official image (above), which appears to be a natural extension of the three-door Evoque's design themes. There is no official news on whether or not the Evoque's dimensions had to expand in order to accommodate the extra set of doors.
No official announcements, other than confirmation for production, were made. Does Land Rover have a chance at success by marketing the five-door Evoque as a baby Range Rover? Or does the Evoque work better as a three-door?
