In anticipation of U.S. sales of the NV, the Canton plant added a 14,499-square-foot Body Assembly Shop expansion, a new assembly line in the Trim and Chassis Shop, and other changes. Two years of construction and $118 million later, Nissan now celebrates Job One, the first U.S. NV produced.
Commercial Van Watch: Nissans 2012 NV Begins Production Today image“Today’s Job One ceremony not only commemorates a new era for the Canton plant and launch of the innovative Nissan NV commercial van, it also represents growth for Nissan in North America and affirmation of our dedication to building the highest quality products for customers in every major product segment,” said Nissan Americas Chairman Carlos Tavares. “Nissan has been a leading innovator in commercial vehicles around the world for more than 75 years.”

Adding 2012 NV production to the plant already making Altimas, Titans, and Armada SUVs will help Nissan expand use of the 4.0-liter V-6 and 5.6-liter V-8 engines that have served under the hoods of Nissans and Infinitis for years. Pricing for the NV starts at $25,570 including the destination charge.

Nissan plans to donate a 2012 NV van to Habitat for Humanity near the Canton plant. Others who want to drive home (or to work) in a new NV will get their chance with the Nissan launches in spring of this year.
