When the rally begins on Saturday, it will mark the 21st time the event has started. Most of the rally, which involves no prize money, will take place in Morocco and this year, three Americans will compete.
Two sisters (sponsored by Pompeian Olive Oil) as well as an American-French team comprise the three American entrants. Like all the other rally participants, no GPS, cell phones, or support crews are allowed. "Outdated maps" should help, however in the rally whose winner may not be the quickest, but will have traveled the fewest miles.

"The Rallye Aicha des Gazelles and Pompeian join together to support and celebrate the inspiring stories of everyday women who are driven to compete," said Pompeian's Marketing Manager, David Bensadoun. "In addition, the rally's dedication to humanitarian efforts and environmental initiatives are in alignment with the values we share at Pompeian. We are honored to be a part of an inspiring, eco-friendly and influential event."
