VPG MV-1 Wheelchair Accessible Van EPA-Rated 13/18 MPG, 11/16 MPG With CNG

The VPG MV-1 wheelchair accessible mobility van has just been rated by the EPA. The official mileage is 13/18 mpg city/highway for the model that mates the four-speed automatic to a Ford 4.6-liter V-8 and 11/16 mpg for the MV-1 with the natural gas conversion.
The regular gas model has a 24-gallon fuel tank and cargo capacity of 36.4 cubic feet. Go for the natural gas upgrade and you'll save significantly on fuel costs but don't forget about the $9000 conversion fee. Cargo capacity on the natural gas MV-1 is 29.1 cubic feet once the three Type-3 CNG tanks are integrated into the vehicle.

Prices on the MV-1 start at about $40,000 for the base SE model and move to $42,000 for a DX model that includes a power ramp, cruise control, radio with a CD player, a driver center console, and rear window wiper. A rear-facing jump seat is one of two listed options, though both might be standard on the more expensive LX mode coming soon. Gray leatherette is standard on all MV-1s, which come in five colors.
If you already own a conversion van, would you consider a purpose-built machine like the MV-1 as a replacement? Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
