Mini and DSquared2 To Auction Custom "Red Mudder" Countryman for 2011 Life Ball Charity Event

For the past 11 years, Mini has sponsored the Life Ball -- a star-studded benefit gala to help raise awareness and support for HIV/AIDS research. For the ninth year in a row, Mini has teamed up with a top fashion house -- this time with Canadian design duo DSquared2 -- to auction off a customized car at the event.

The one-off Mini "Red Mudder" is designers Dean and Dan's take on a rugged and robust Cooper S in DSquared2 style. The brand's aesthetic is part cowboy glamor, part seventies chic, and part rocker sex appeal, all of which translates well onto the burly, jacked-up, off-road ready Mini. Wearing bright red paint with oversized black trim, wheels, and maple leaf decals, and eight driving lights -- four on the grille and four on the roof -- the Red Mudder is ready to hit the trail in style.

Last year's Life Ball Minis included a 2010 Cooper Countryman designed by Francisco Costa of Calvin Klein, a 2010 Cooper S modified by Diane Von Furstenberg, and a 2010 Cooper Convertible decked out by Kenneth Cole. Previous Life Ball Minis have included designs by Agent Provocateur, The Blonds for Katy Perry, Diesel, Missioni, and Donatella Versace. The 19th annual Life Ball will be held in Vienna, Austria on May 21, where the car will be auctioned off.
