Range Rover Evoque will Offer Latest Version of MagneRide Optional

The Range Rover Evoque will use BWI Group's third generation MagneRide for its Adaptive Dynamics technology. The third generation adds a twin-wire dual coil actuator which provides faster response and a greater range of damping control. The goal is to offer higher levels of traction, stability and comfort for on and off-road driving. BWI Group is also the supplier for the standard suspension's passive twin-tube shocks.
The newest version replaces the shocks single electrical coil with two smaller coils with algorithms optimized by the computer. This helps make the system respond faster for driver comfort especially while off-roading. The two coil system helps increase the shocks dynamic range (a 'softer soft' and a 'harder hard'). This helps by allowing a reducing in both roll bar and spring rates for a better ride while still maintaining control.
"The third generation of MagneRide, with faster response and wider dynamic range, effectively removes the need for chassis engineers to compromise between comfort and handling - whether driving over rocky tracks or smooth highways," said Olivier Raynauld, BWI's manager.
