Marines Order More International MRAPs for Afghanistan
Navistar Defense, makers of the International MaxxPro Dash truck, today announced that it had received a $357 million delivery order from the United States Marine Corps. The International MaxxPro Dash, better known to you and me as the MRAP will be fielded to Marines fighting in Afghanistan.
This month's order of an additional 471 MRAPs will follow last month's delivery of 250 MRAP Ambulances to the Marine Corps. "We have nine major MaxxPro variants in or on their way to theater today, thanks to the flexibility of our proven vehicle platforms," said president of Navistar Defense, Archie Massicotte.
Production of the fully independent-suspension MaxxPro MRAPs will occur at International's Garland, Texas and West Point, Miss. factories. According to Navistar, deliveries of the new Marine Corps MRAPs should be completed by September of this year.
