Ford Launches Virtual Showroom on Playstation 3 Console
Ford today announced the launch of its virtual Ford Showroom on Sony Playstation 3's Home. Yesterday's launch makes Ford the first US automaker to set up a "space" (virtual showroom) for Playstation Network users in North America.
Playstation 3 users will be able to visit the virtual Ford showroom and check out two different cars, the Fiesta and the Edge. In order to view the virtual Fiesta and Edge, the user will access Playstation Home and then use their avatar to "walk" into the showroom, where a virtual Ford representative will greet them and introduce the two cars to them. From there, they'll be able to view the exterior and interior of the two cars. Users will also be able to play a game in the Ford Virtual Showroom and earn digital rewards, including a Ford T-shirt for your avatar.
On top of viewing the Fiesta and Edge "up close," Playstation 3 users will also have the chance to play three different Sync-based mini-games to earn rewards, Music Quest, Turn-By-Turn Quest and Phone Quest. The completion of all three games will earn the Playstation user a virtual MP3 player and docking station, a virtual Sync-branded hoodie and lastly the grand prize of a virtual digital picture frame branded with Sync.
There's no word yet on whether or not Ford will launch a similar feature on Microsoft's Xbox Live.
