Mazda must've known how anxious we were to see the unveiling of the Mazda CX-5 crossover, so it's giving us a glimpse of what we can expect to see in the baby CX-7 before its world premiere at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

We've already filled you in on the spanking-new Mazda CX-5, which will be the first of the Zoom-Zoom brand's new breed of products to feature its latest Skyactiv Technology engines and transmissions. The Skyactiv technology consists of downsized, direct-injection engines that are more fuel-efficient than their predecessors, with new transmissions that are both more efficient and responsive.
The European-spec CX-5 will be equipped with a choice between a Skyactiv 2.0-liter gasoline or 2.2-literdiesel engine. Skyactiv engines won't debut in the U.S. market until the facelifted 2012 Mazda3 - also appearing at the Frankfurt show - arrives in showrooms this fall with an efficient, direct-injected 2.0-liter inline-four bolted to a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.

A new "Kodo" design theme also incorporates crisp flowing lines very reminiscent to the Shinari and Minagi concept that debuted in Geneva, in which the smiling grille is replaced by a bolder-looking fascia.
Tell us what you think of the styling of the new CX-5? Do you love it or hate it?
