Spied: 2013 BMW X6 Mid-cycle Refresh
When it comes to niche vehicles, the BMW X6 could be the niche-iest. With its aggressive styling, questionable utility, and high price compared to SUV platform-mate X5, the X6's place in the market has never been crystal clear. Still, BMW is doing what it can with the X6's exterior for the vehicle's mid-cycle refresh, as this spy shot shows. After a mild makeover, can the X6's subtly revised look win over its detractors?
The bumper has changed since we last saw the X6, as this test mule wears camouflage over the fog lights. Those fog lights appear to have been pushed out toward the edges slightly, looking less centered in the redesigned bumper inlet. The headlights wear the same eye-shadow-like camo, which likely hides a new squared-off inner headlight design. Below those lamps are probably strips of LED running lamps, similar to those seen on the new 6 Series.
Not much has changed in back, with the taillights still mostly covered up. Those lights will likely get a subtle refresh, with possibly some new LEDs thrown in to update the X6's rear end. The so-called Sport Activity Coupe (SAC) should receive its mid-cycle refresh by 2013, though the changes probably won't be drastic enough to appease its critics.
