Ford Recalls 2011 F-150, 2012 Super Duty for Transmission Issue

Dec 20, 2011
Ford announced that it’ll be recalling certain 2011 F-150s, and 2012 F-250s, F-350s, F-450 and F-550s due to a transmission brake shift interlock issue.

Ford F-Series Transmission Brake Shift Interlock Recall
The Problem: Certain 2011 model year Ford F-150s and certain 2012 model year Ford F-250s, F-350s, F-450s and F-550s may have a transmission brake shift interlock issue. The NHTSA says that these trucks suffer from an issue with the transmission’s brake shift interlock switch. Due to the issue the trucks can be shifted out of the park position into gear without pressing the brake pedal, which the NHTSA says increases the risk of a crash or injury to a nearby pedestrian.

The Fix: Ford will start recalling 2011 F-150s, and 2012 F-250s, F-350s, F-450s and F-550s on or by December 19, 2011. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake shift interlock switch function and replace the switch if necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Ford at 1-866-436-7332 if they have any questions.
Number of Vehicles Affected: 16,091 Ford F-Series trucks are included in this recall, including Ford F-150s built between September 9, 2011 and September 22, 2011, and 2012 F-250s, F-350s, F-450s and F-550s built from September 12, 2011 through September 22, 2011.
