OnStar Helps Drivers Keep Track of Santa This Christmas
If you're eager to unwrap presents this holiday weekend, the operators at General Motors' OnStar system can help. Between 7 a.m. Christmas Eve through 5 a.m. Christmas Day, operators with OnStar can provide drivers with the approximate location of Santa Claus, thanks to a collaboration with the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
NORAD has tracked Santa's location since 1955, and uses military radar stations and satellites to monitor Santa as he and his reindeer deliver gifts all across the U.S. This year, OnStar users also will be privy to the sleigh's location if they ask operators for a "Santa update" when pushing the system's blue button. OnStar cannot, sadly, determine how many cookies Santa has consumed while making his rounds.
"We see this holiday tradition as staying true to keeping subscribers connected in ways they never thought possible," said OnStar marketing vice president Terry Inch. "We know many of our customers will be glad to know Santa's location information."
OnStar also launched a service over Halloween that allowed subscribers to determine the location of nearby ghouls, zombies, and other scary beings. For more on OnStar's Santa Updates, check out the video below.
