"Project-X" DJ Van is a Mercedes Vito With $39K Worth of Pioneer Kit

Are you into hard-hitting beats? Mercedes-Benz and Pioneer apparently are, as they've released information on the Project-X collaboration, a van from the United Kingdom with a crazy sound system. Project-X started life as a Vito 122CDI Sport-X Dualiner, a commercial van that isn't sold in the United States. With an aspiration to create "the ultimate DJ van," Mercedes and Pioneer's U.K. arms teamed up to throw nearly 25,000 British pounds worth of Pioneer DJ-ing sound equipment into the cargo van. That's almost $39,000 according to current currency exchange rates.

The pricey beats come blasting out of Project-X courtesy of two 15-inch, competition-class SPL subwoofers, along with four 10-inch Champion Series subs. Eight amplifiers are powered by four batteries and a strong 300-ampere supply, while the DJ themselves will be in control of two CDJ digital turntables and a mixer. Combined, the total speaker capability is said to be a rowdy 30,050 watts. Lower springs were also installed, although the added equipment likely adds at least several hundred pounds to contribute to the ground-hugging stance. Somewhere out there, hardcore partygoers are drooling.

The Vito is a diesel model, powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 offering 224 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. The Dualiner model is the middle point between the panel version and the people-moving-oriented Traveliner.
