Winnebago Unveils New 2012 Winnebago Journey and Itasca Meridian 42E
Winnebago will debut its 2012 Journey and Itasca Meridian 42E the week at the Florida RV SuperShow in Tampa, Florida. The new triple slide 42E is the first tag-axle floorpan in the RV maker's Journey and Meridian lines.
The 42R is built on a 44,320 GVWR Maxum lowered rail tag-axle chassis. The chassis features 220 cubic feet of exterior storage. It is powered by a 400 horsepower Cummins ISL 8.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine.
"Our diesel products have never been better than in 2012," said Winnebago Industries' Vice President of Sales and Marketing Roger Martin, in a press release. "In fact, over the last three years, we have more than doubled our diesel market share to become the second largest manufacturer of Class A diesels. Much of that is thanks to innovative, new floorplans like the 42E that offers amenities and spacious living that make them a cut above the competition."
The new RV features one and half bathrooms, and a full wall slide-out on the passenger side. It includes a 40-inch LCD HDTV, recliner with pull-out table, buffet with extendable dining table and chairs, four-door refrigerator, pantry and residential-like bedroom wardrobe. The living area also has an extendable sectional sofa, tray ceiling design and polished ceramic tile.
The mid-coach gallery has a pull-out island which increase preparation and storage space. The wardrobe has a full-length clothes rod with six drawers and a shoe shelf. The pull-out has a queen-size bed and dual nightstands -- a power operated king bed is optional. It also has a large master shower and a washer and dryer are optional. A half bath is located near the center for quests.
"The new 42E is a great floorplan at a great price point," said Mike Regan, president and general manager of Crestview RV Center in Buda, Texas, in a press release. "I love the bath and a half floorplan, and I think customers are really going to like the usability and layout of this coach."
