Heavy-Hauling Mack Truck Built on Season Premiere of "Ultimate Factories"

National Geographic's "Ultimate Factories" is a television show that gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of factories across the globe. Whether it be a potato chip factory or automobile assembly plant, the cameras capture how everything is made step-by-step, and on the season premiere this weekend, you can witness how a 10-ton Mack Truck is made.
The heavy-hauling Titan truck is the new flagship of Mack Trucks and is built to withstand some of the toughest jobs. The 605-hp and 2060 lb-ft monster requires hundreds of people at three facilities to help build it, and "Ultimate Factories" makes a visit to each one. Cameras capture what goes on the Macungie Assembly plant, the Powertrain Center, and the Customer Center, where the finished Mack Trucks are test-driven on a closed course.

In the new episode, you can watch the beginnings of the behemoth truck and witness a crane lower the chassis (weighing in at about eight to 10 thousand-pounds) down onto an assembly line. The unit manager of the facility goes into further detail about how the truck, which rides on a 273-inch wheelbase, is made on two assembly lines: One is for the chassis and the other for the cab.
