Jeep has announced that it will show three concept vehicles at this year's Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, out of a total of six vehicles from Chrysler Group overall. The three Jeeps, shown here, are the Jeep Mighty FC concept, Jeep J-12 concept, and the Jeep Wrangler Apache, the last of which, interestingly, not dubbed as a concept.
Both the FC and J-12 concepts appear to be inspired by models from Jeep's past, namely the original FC (forward control) cab-over trucks, and the J-12 looks to be a new variation of the theme introduced with the Nukizer concept shown at the 2010 Moab Safari.
In terms of the Apache, we can see a prominent front tube bumper and a Warn winch in the rendering. The telltale Mopar blue stripe down the hood may hint at possible Hemi power, but we won't know for sure until next week, when we're told Chrysler will reveal more information about these concepts.
If it does pack Hemi power, it won't be the first time, as the Mopar ImMortal packed a 5.7-liter Hemi, and the Blue Crush and Wrangler Renegade concepts shown at last year's Safari packed 426 and 6.4-liter Hemi power respectively. Back when the JK was powered by the wheezy 3.8-liter pushrod V-6, enthusiasts were screaming for a Hemi option. Now that the excellent 3.6-liter Pentastar is under the hood, the demand and need for the Hemi has subsided somewhat, but there are still some Jeep faithful who wouldn't mind the torque and burble of a Hemi on the trail.
Stay tuned to Truck Trend for all the details next week!
