Nissan Frontier Wins Customer Satisfaction Award for Midsize Trucks

Nissan's Proven Midsizer Wins Autobytel/AutoPacific Vehicle Satisfaction Award

May 30, 2012
If Nissan's living by the "don't mess with success" motto with its Frontier midsize truck, it appears the strategy is paying off for the company. The Frontier took the top spot in Autobytel and AutoPacific's 16th annual Vehicle Satisfaction Award, topping the segment's best-seller, the Toyota Tacoma. The award asks recent new vehicle buyers to rate their satisfaction on 48 vehicle attributes, including purchase considerations, as well as post-purchase satisfaction. The award is based on the feedback of more than 75,000 survey respondents.

The current-generation Frontier was introduced in fall 2004 as a 2005 model, making 2013 the truck's eighth model year without any major changes. Suzuki sells a re-badged version of the Frontier as the Equator, which debuted for the 2009 model year.
The Frontier has been offered since its introduction in the U.S. market with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 4.0-liter V-6, but overseas versions of the Frontier, sold as the Navara in most other markets, offers two turbodiesel engine options in three power levels. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder diesel is offered in 144 and 174hp trims, with 263 and 297 lb-ft, respectively, and a 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel producing 240 hp and a tasty 406 lb-ft of torque. The 4.0-liter gasoline V-6, the most powerful engine currently offered in the U.S. model, produces 261 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque.
