Nissan Juke Nismo To Officially Debut at 24 Hours of Le Mans

Special-Edition Compact Crossover Headed for U.S. in 2013

Jun 13, 2012
Nissan has announced that the Juke Nismo concept, first shown at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, will be going into production in 2013. The first batch of vehicles is destined for Europe, with Japan and the U.S. getting the vehicle later in the year. The Japanese automaker will unveil the production car at an unsual venue for such a thing: the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race, the 2012 edition of which will be held this weekend.

Other than a slightly toned-down front end treatment, the production-bound Juke Nismo carries over nearly all the features shown on the Tokyo concept car, including the unique grille, tailgate spoiler, and 10-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels. A sport-tuned suspension plus steering and torque vectoring control are promised for the new model as well as increased power from its 1.6-liter direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine, though no specific power figures were disclosed. The attractive and grippy suede-lined seats from the concept will also reportedly transition to the production model along with updated gauges, pedals, door trim, and steering wheel.

Although it's not the 500-plus-horsepower fire-breathing beast that is the Juke-R, the Juke Nismo model will be a much more accessible way for fans of this unique compact crossover to express their individuality and appreciation for Nissan's performance heritage.
