NHTSA Expands Investigation of Melting Window Switches on Chevrolet Trailblazer
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Office of Defect Investigations initially launched an investigation into complaints about melting or burning power window switches on 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer and Trailblazer EXT models. In response to NHTSA's inquiry, General Motors presented the agency with 167 reports and 698 warranty claims related to the alleged issue. The ODI has received 83 complaints, 66 of which claim the door module had melted or burned, and 17 stating the switches were erratic or inoperative.
The investigation may be expanded to other GMT360 vehicles, which include the GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender, Buick Ranier, and Saab 9-7X. If you own one of these models and have experienced transmission issues, you can contact NHTSA at 888-327-4236 or your respective brand's customer service line, which are listed at gm.com/contact-us.
