New Report Details Direction of Future Volvo Lineup Including Possible XC60 Hybrid

A new report from Automotive News gives us a better idea of how Volvo expects to hit 800,000 sales by 2020. Part of that will involve using the new Scalable Platform Architecture as well as updating Volvo's crossovers: the XC60, XC70, and XC90.

Volvo is uncertain whether it will introduce an XC60 hybrid around the 2014 calendar year or wait until the compact crossover's 2016 redesign. Whatever the case, it will share several components with the next-gen S60. The redesigned XC90 will be the first to sport the new architecture in the lineup. It will employ more luxurious proportions, though the Volvo SUV will still integrate styling cues that have distinguished the automaker's vehicles for years. The XC70 may not be replaced until 2015 or 2016 with a model based on the redesigned S80.
A good chunk of these future models could be built in North America, as Volvo has expressed interest in partnering with Fiat to build more cars on our shores.
