Jeep Introduces Grand Cherokee SRT8 Alpine, Vapor Edition
2013 Models Also Get Interior Trim Upgrades, Power Liftgate
The Grand Cherokee SRT8 doesn't need much of an introduction. Along with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, BMW X5 M, and Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, it's one of the fastest SUVs you can buy. With the new WK2-based SRT8 introduced for the 2012 model year, we weren't expecting any major changes for 2013, especially considering it's been announced it's going to be a shortened model run to make room for a more comprehensively refreshed 2014 model coming next spring.
To keep things interesting before that happens, Jeep has introduced two new special edition SRT8 models. The 'Alpine' model features a bright-white paintjob, and the 'Vapor' has a brilliant black paintjob. Both feature a Black Vapor Chrome finish on split five-spoke wheels, and special gloss black accents in the form of a Jeep hood badge, Grand Cherokee door badges, front grille surrounds and inserts, and a rear light bar and step pad.
Standard for 2013 SRT8 models are leather door trim panels, instrument panel and center console, and a power liftgate.
The other go-fast bits that make the SRT8 special remain, namely the 470 hp 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 engine, and Quadra-Trac SRT performance-tuned all-wheel drive.
