2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser Adds Cement Grey to Trail Teams Model
Retro-Styled SUV Continues into 2013 with Minor Changes
Since its introduction for the 2007 model year as a back-to-basics 4x4 embodying the ruggedness and simplicity of the original FJ40 Land Cruiser of the 1960s and '70s, Toyota has kept upgrades to the model basic and functional, and the 2013 FJ Cruiser continues that tradition.
The Trail Teams Special Edition, a trim offered since 2008, goes into 2013 with the color Cement Grey replacing Radiant Red on the 2012 model. Also new for the 2013 Trail Teams model are TRD doorsill scuff plates. The Bilstein shocks, rear differential lock, skidplates, rock rails and signature blackout trim carry over from past Trail Teams models.
New and standard on all 2013 FJ Cruisers are power-adjustable outside mirrors with illuminated markers. Bluetooth handsfree calling and music streaming carry over as standard features, along with air conditioning, power windows and door locks.
Selling more than 50,000 units in its first year, the FJ Cruiser sold just a little over 13,000 in 2011, with news of its imminent cancellation popping up periodically. But the chunky off-roader has enough of a loyal following to convince Toyota to keep it in production, even in lower volumes.
