2013 Cadillac SRX Adds Blu-Ray DVD Player, Dual-Play Rear Entertainment
System Features Remote Inspired by Video Game Controller
Aside from the introduction of the XTS and ATS sedans, the big news at Cadillac has been the division's CUE multimedia interface, with a touchscreen that mimics the function and feel of tablet computers. The CUE system on the 2013 SRX crossover gets a kid-friendly update that brings a host of new features and functions that will virtually ensure the kids whining "are we there yet?" will be thing of the past.
The CUE system already enabled the pairing of up to 10 Bluetooth-enabled devices, as well as accommodating SD cards, USB sticks, and MP3 players. The 2013 SRX adds the ability for rear-seat passengers to connect and select their own media inputs, including the playing of movies from portable media players with a special cable sold separately.
A new dual-play capability allows rear seat passengers to select separate entertainment options, including Blu-Ray movies, play video games, or listen to the radio or their MP3 playlist. Blu-Ray movies can also be played through the front 8-inch display when the vehicle is in park.
Additional features of the entertainment package include unique wireless controllers inspired by video game remotes that were specifically tested in focus groups with kids to ensure intuitive functionality. The wireless headphones also get an update for 2013, allowing users to adjust volume or toggle between input channels on the headphones themselves.
The rear-seat entertainment package is option on the SRX Luxury, Performance, and Premium trim levels as a $1595 option.
