Recall: 2003-2004 Honda Pilot, Odyssey, 2003-2006 Acura MDX for Ignition Interlock
Malfunction Could Cause Vehicle Roll-Away
Honda is recalling 259,000 2031 to 2004 Pilot SUVs and 318,000 Odyssey minivans, as well as 2003-2006 Acura MDX SUVs for a potential malfunction of the ignition interlock..
The Problem: If the ignition interlock becomes damaged or worn, it could allow for the removal of the ignition key when the vehicle is not in park. If the vehicle is not in park, and the parking brake is not applied, the vehicle could roll away, causing a crash hazard for the driver and other motorists.
The Fix: Honda will notify owners by mail starting in February 2013. Customers can also go to recalls.acura.com, and recalls.honda.com, or call 800-382-2238 for Acura owners or 800-999-1009 for Honda owners. Owners can also contact the NHTSA vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 259,000 2003-2004 Honda Pilot SUVs, 318,000 Honda Odyssey minivans, and 230,000 2003-2006 Acura MDX SUVs.
