Subaru Recalls 633,842 Vehicles Including Certain Foresters, Outbacks, and Tribecas
Subaru is recalling 633,842 vehicles for an issue relating to accessory puddle lights that illuminate the street near the front and rear doors.
The Problem: The accessory puddle lights on certain Subaru Forester, Legacy, Outback, and Tribeca models may develop a short circuit when the light itself or the connector is exposed to an “electrolytic moisture source” such as road spray with salt on it. A short circuit of the puddle light system could generate heat that might melt the plastic, leading to smoke or a fire.
The Fix: For Subaru owners with the accessory puddle lights, dealerships will install an additional fused harness. The recall is set to begin in February; owners may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
