Report: Nissan Leaving "Nothing off the Table" With 2015 Titan

Full Redesign Promises More Engine, Cab Options

Feb 8, 2013
Now that the 2014 Toyota Tundra has been officially revealed, and amounts essentially to an extensive refresh, Nissan is promising that the 2015 Titan will be truly all new. Considering that it originally debuted for the 2004 model year, it will have had an 11-year model run on the original F-Alpha chassis, an almost unprecedented length of time in recent memory among full-size truck models, with only the GMT-400 full-size Chevy and GMC coming close, with a 10-year model run from 1988 to 1998.

Pierre Loing, chief of product planning for Nissan North America, promised the company is leaving "nothing off the table" in the design of the next-generation Titan, hinting that both a base V-6 engine, as well as a regular-cab model, two variations missing from the current Titan lineup, could be offered, according to Reuters.

In an indication of how steep of a mountain Nissan has ahead of it with the Titan, the company sold 21,576 Titans in 2012. That amounts to about two weeks' worth of sales of Ford's F-Series trucks, the best-selling truck and vehicle in the U.S.
Loing did not specifically indicate whether there would be heavier-duty versions of the truck, other than saying, "There's a lot of space for us to increase our coverage of the broader pickup market."
