Update: Official - 2014 Range Rover Loses V-8, Gains New V-6

Is The 2014 Range Rover Losing Its V-8?

**UPDATE**

Land Rover has now officially confirmed the base engine for the 2014 Range Rover will be the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 also offered in the Jaguar XF and XJ. Output, as expected is 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, and EPA ratings will improve 2 mpg in both city and highway, as expected.
Even though the all-new 2013 Range Rover was introduced with a 5.0-liter V-8, either normally aspirated or supercharged, Oval News (a Land Rover enthusiast website) is saying the luxury Rover will get a new engine for 2014. While top-level trims will still use V-8 power, the site reports the base and HSE models will use a supercharged V-6 instead. If you want a Range Rover with V-8 power, you'll have to get the Autobiography or the Supercharged model.

The smaller engine is said to put out 340 hp and 332 lb-ft, versus 375 and 375 in the regular V-8. (The Supercharged V-8 has an output of 510 hp and 461 lb-ft.) But considering the new Range Rover weighs about 700 pounds less than the previous generation, the power difference may not be all that noticeable. As you might expect, the move will improve fuel economy. Land Rover's estimate puts fuel economy at 16 mpg city/22 mpg highway -- an improvement of 2/2 mpg city/highway. The six-cylinder also will be backed by the Rover's eight-speed automatic.
Other changes are reportedly coming to the Range Rover for 2014. Stop/start is said to become standard equipment on all models, minor trim changes are likely, there should be some changes to option packages, and there are new colors -- Scotia Grey (all-new), Corris Grey (replaces Orkney Grey), and Loire Blue (replaces Baltic Blue). Pricing is still said to start at $83,545 (including destination) as it does for 2013, but we hear the price of the Autobiography is going to cost $5000 more ($135,995 for 2014).

While a Jaguar Land Rover representative confirmed that 2014 models will go on sale in early fall of this year, he couldn't verify whether the report of the new powertrain option was true.
