Toyota Plans Export of U.S.-Built Venza to Russia, Ukraine

5000 Kentucky-Built Crossovers Expected To Ship Annually

Feb 26, 2013
Some of the largest exporters of vehicles made in the U.S. are ironically overseas-based brands, and Toyota is leading the way, with more than 124,000 U.S.-assembled vehicles being exported to global markets in 2012. That figure is poised to grow in 2013 with the company's announcement of exporting its Venza five-passenger crossover to the Russian and Ukrainian markets in the second quarter of the year.

Toyota expects 5000 Venza units annually will be exported to Russia and Ukraine. The Venza is built at Toyota's Georgetown, Kentucky, plant, which has an annual production capacity of 500,000 units, is the company's largest manufacturing facility outside of Japan. Georgetown also makes the best-selling Camry midsize sedan and the Avalon large sedan.
This is far from the first time Toyota has exported U.S.-built vehicles to foreign markets. In December 2008, the company began exporting the Tundra full-size truck and Sequoia full-size SUV to Latin American and Middle Eastern markets. Toyota also more recently announced the export of Venza models to South Korea in fall 2012.
