German Tuner Mansory Bringing Custom Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs to Geneva

They say you shouldn't mess with success, but Mansory thought it necessary to add its signature touch to the classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The specialty tuner will bring two modified G-Wagens to the 2013 Geneva Motor Show this week, including a bright yellow SUV packing 840 hp and a custom Euro-market G-Class cabrio, which looks kind of like a bloated Suzuki Sidekick convertible, even without modifications.

The four-door G-Class is called the Gronos, deriving its name from the Greek god of gods Kronos, according to Mansory. The power output of the G63 AMG's standard 5.5-liter twin-turbo V-8 has been cranked up nearly 300 ponies from the stock 544 hp, and Mansory says a performance-tuned version of the G65 AMG's twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 is in development. The car comes finished only in "Magic Yellow," and sports custom bodywork, unique headlights, and 23-inch alloy wheels.
To create the Speranza cabrio, Mansory took a G500 Cabrio and added fender flare "wings" to extend the SUV's width by 20 mm. Mansory says the stock 385-hp 5.5-liter V-8 has been bumped up to 700 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The roofless sport ute also gets 24-inch alloy wheels, carbon fiber components, and a bespoke front grille.
