Geneva 2013: SsangYong Debuts SIV-1 Crossover Concept

Truck Trend EditorsMar 4, 2013
Korea-based automaker SsangYong is hoping to get some attention at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show by unveiling the Ssangyong SIV-1 crossover concept.
The SsangYong SIV-1 (Smart Interface Vehicle) is touted as a "multi interface mid-premium" crossover that showcases the automaker's new design language. That said, it looks fairly handsome with a high beltline, an exaggerated rear haunch, and large wheels. The front end is safer, with the requisite LED light accents and the rear is also simple yet solid with taillights that remind us of the Mazda CX-5.Speaking of which, the SIV-1's overall length of 177.2 inches is about 1.5 inches shorter than the CX-5, but the SsangYong's width of 74 inches makes it slightly wider than the Mazda (72.4 inches). No powertrain info on the SsangYong concept is available, but the automaker does mention a "Mobile Auto System" and four independent bucket seats. The automaker was also present at last year's Geneva show when it unveiled the XIV-1 crossover concept.
