Infiniti to Debut 2014 QX60 Hybrid Crossover in New York

Before long, Infiniti will have three hybrids in its U.S. lineup including a seven-passenger crossover. The automaker has announced that at the 2013 New York auto show, it will debut the 2014 QX60 hybrid, a rebadged JX35 with a new powertrain.
Based on the new Nissan Pathfinder, the 2014 Infiniti QX60 hybrid will cost about $3000 more than the standard V-6-powered crossover, which as the 2013 JX35, carries a price in the low $40,000 range. Unlike the Infiniti M hybrid and upcoming Q50 hybrid, the QX60 crossover hybrid will start with a supercharged 2.5-liter I-4 engine. Along with a 20-hp electric motor, the combined output is 250 hp. Whether this powertrain will appear on the Pathfinder has not yet been confirmed, but we'd be surprised if the 2014 or 2015 Pathfinder doesn't offer a hybrid variant.

The next-generation Murano is also a likely candidate for the QX60's hybrid system, which uses a lithium-ion battery pack that's said to have no effect on passenger space. Since the Buick Enclave and Acura MDX don't officially have any hybrid variant planned, Infiniti's hybrid powertrain could help give the newly renamed QX60 an advantage over its large-crossover competitors.
