Revived Stadium Truck Series Gets Off to Big Start in Arizona
We reported on the revival of a stadium truck racing series by noted motorsport personality Robby Gordon to kick off in 2013. With the completion of the inaugural race in Phoenix this past weekend, the series concept has become reality, with veteran off-road racer Rob MacCachren taking first place, beating even series namesake and organizer Robby Gordon to take first place in the headlining Stadium Super Trucks 20-lap race. Second-place went to Justin Matney, with Gordon taking third, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. of "Bachelorette" fame taking fourth place.
Eddie Tafoya of Chino Hills took first place in the Super Buggy 10-lap feature race, with Robb Harvey taking second, and Rob Martensen taking third. Myles Cheek took first place in the Super Trophy Kart feature race, with Cole Marner coming in second, and Brock Heger third.
The Stadium Super Trucks series will be touring the country in 2013, with events in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and San Diego, California; Arlington, Texas; St. Louis, Chicago, Atlanta, , Minneapolis, and Las Vegas. An international SST event will be held sometime during the season. The location of that event has not yet been revealed.
