Ford F-150 Predator by VWerks Offers Custom Configurations
Raptor-Like Styling Offered with Choice of Powertrain, Style
Have you ever looked at the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and thought, "I really like that truck, but I wish it were offered with the EcoBoost," or regular-cab, or with a 5.0 V-8, or one of the many other configurations the Ford F-150 has? VWerks, the accessory arm of Venchurs Vehicle Systems, has a package to fulfill your wishes.
VWerks' new Predator package for the F-150 offers Raptor-like, but subtly different styling and accessory upgrades that can be applied to any F-150 with the 5.5- or 6.5-foot bed, which includes the extended-cab, Super Crew, and regular-cab models. In addition, you can apply the Predator package to any F-150, regardless of powertrain. So that means 4x2, 4x4, 3.7 naturally aspirated V-6, 3.5 EcoBoost, 5.0 V-8, or, yes, even the 6.2-liter V-8 that's the only choice in the factory Raptor.
The basic Predator package consists of BF Goodrich Mud/Terrain KM2 tires, 18-inch black alloy wheels, a 2-inch leveling kit, a fiberglass hood, grille, front and rear fenders, front Venom metal bumper, LED running light kit for the front grille and rear corners, and Predator grille and graphics. Available options include the choice of several graphics packages, a Flowmaster cat-back performance exhaust, side steps, Venom rear bumper, cold air intake, color-matched tonneau cover, and custom leather seat covers.
The basic Predator package carries a $16,500 MSRP, but dealers can price the package at their discretion. While that's not an insubstantial sum, Greg Golab, vice president and general manager of Venchurs Vehicle Systems, reminds us that the Predator package can be applied to any F-150 trim level. The Raptor currently starts at $44,915 including destination, and because of its scarcity, often carries a dealer markup, sometimes as much as $10,000. If you start with a basic XL or STX trim, you're still paying several thousand less than for a real Raptor. Factor in some of the rebates available on the other F-150 models not available on the Raptor, the savings could be even greater.
Golab says future options on the Predator package include a 6-inch lift with Fox shocks, an optional front winch, and a performance tuning package for the EcoBoost that will increase output to approximately 450 hp.
