2014 Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition/Custom Sport Debuts
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Texas Edition celebrates the connection between the Lone Star state and full-size pickups. In fact, Chevrolet says one in six full-size pickup trucks is sold in Texas.
Available on LT and LTZ models, the Silverado Texas Edition comes with exclusive features including -- of course -- Texas Edition badges. Silverado Texas editions in LT trim come with polished 20-inch alloy wheels, trailering package, locking rear differential, and body-colored side mirrors and door handles. LTZ models step up to chrome 20-inch alloys, chrome exterior mirrors and door handles as well as a Bose audio system. LT models come standard with the 285-hp 4.3-liter V-6, while LTZ models are powered by the 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8.
If you live outside Texas, Chevrolet will offer the Custom Sport package -- basically a Silverado Texas Edition without the badges. With the Texas Edition and Custom Sport trims, Chevrolet might have a challenger for the 2013 Ram 1500's Express trim, which adds 20-inch wheels for added curb appeal while still remaining within reach of most new-truck buyers.
For those who want to spend more on a Chevrolet truck, the automaker just released details on the new High Country model that becomes the new top trim level on Silverado 1500 pickups.
