GM Releases Horsepower, Torque Numbers for 6.2-Liter 2014 Chevrolet Silverado
Silverado Has Best-in-Class Horsepower, Torque, Towing
GM recently released preliminary horsepower and torque numbers for the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 that will be available in the 2014 Silverado and Sierra later this year. The topline engine has an estimated output of 420 hp and 450 lb-ft. That is higher than the Ford F-150's 6.2, which puts out 411 hp and 434 lb-ft, and is a clear improvement over GM's 2013 6.2-liter, with 403 hp and 417 lb-ft. Fuel economy has not yet been announced.
GM also released an estimated towing capacity with the 6.2-liter of 12,000 pounds. While the 5.3-liter's 11,500-pound towing capacity was already set to become the new best-in-class towing number (the previous top towing number was the F-150's 11,300 pounds), the Silverado/Sierra's 6.2 has raised the bar even higher.
