GM's Tremblay Tapped to Streamline Global Business After Launch of 2014 Trucks

36-Year GM Veteran to Focus on Process, Systems Efficiencies in New Role

Edward A. SanchezJun 11, 2013
Accounting for as much as two-thirds of the company's operating revenue, a successful launch of the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 models was critical for General Motors' profitability in the years ahead, and manufacturing is a critical part of any new vehicle's launch success, with supply and quality taking top billing.
Now that the 2014 models are rolling down the lines at GM's truck plants across North America, one of the figures that played a key role in the trucks' smooth rollout is being tapped to find and implement operational efficiencies throughout the company. Diana Tremblay, formerly vice president of North American manufacturing, and a 36-year veteran of GM, has transitioned into the newly created position of global business services vice president. Tremblay's reputation for finding operational efficiencies in manufacturing will now be applied to simplifying back-office processes and systems to improve speed, cut costs, and enable employees to focus on more meaningful work.

Employees from GM's finance, human resources, facilities, real estate, and purchasing departments will be part of Tremblay's team, with hopes of achieving up to a 30-percent reduction in costs and inefficiencies over the next four years.
