Cadillac Escalade Gets Off-Road Treatment by Aria Coachworks

Hip Hop Meets Off-Road in Unique Custom SUV

Jun 27, 2013
While the Cadillac Escalade has always held an iconic spot in the pantheon of luxury SUVs, it has never exactly been known for its off-road prowess. But if you've ever fantasized about taking your hip-hop boulevard cruiser on the red rocks of Moab or the back country of Johnson Valley, check out Aria Coachworks' special-edition Xplore-series Cadillac Escalade . Giving the Escalade some back-country toughness are a matte-finish paint, blackout chrome trim, and Xplore-edition . On the inside, the Xplore-edition Escalade gets leather and suede seating surfaces, all-weather floor and cargo mats, and custom Filson luggage.

Somewhat ironically, the Escalade, both in production trim, as well as this custom version, are only available with full-time all-wheel drive, not with the low-range transfer case offered on the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon; so as tough as it may look, and even including its off-road accessory hardware such as a BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, fender-height aluminum intake snorkel, and Warn winch, it's probably best not to take on those steep vertical ascents.

Still, you may be able to tackle those technical off-road trails in the BMW GS Adventure motorcycle, as part of one of the available packages. If two-wheeling isn't your bag, you can also get the Xplore Escalade with an Airstream trailer, wooden canoes, an assortment of Coleman camping gear, and naturally, Xplore-branded apparel.

Available Experience Packages include an annual family pass to National Parks and the buyer's choice of a back-country expedition at Yosemite National Park, fly-fishing in Yellowstone, or primitive camping in the Grand Canyon, among other adventures. No price was listed for the Xplore Escalade, but considering straight off the showroom floor, Cadillac's jumbo SUV goes for more than $64,000, once you throw in the Bimmer bike, Airstream, and other goodies, expect the total package to easily crest $100,000.
