Recall: Mitsubishi Recalls Outlander Sport

3181 Crossovers Are Affected

With 3181 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossovers, there is a potential problem with the panoramic glass roof. It is possible the glass roof could detach. Mitsubishi discovered the problem when the company investigated a complaint from a person who owned an Outlander Sport in another country.

The problem is that the panoramic glass roof on Outlander Sports made from August 26, 2010, through March 29, 2011, may not have been installed with primer applied before the adhesive. That means there could be reduced adhesion, "possibly allowing the glass roof to detach from the vehicle," according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
To fix the problem, dealers will inspect the roof to see if primer was installed. If not, the glass will be reinstalled. Owners may contact Mitsubishi at 888/648-7820 for more information. Mitsubishi says that so far, no related claims have been made by Outlander Sport owners in the U.S.
