2014 Infiniti SUVs Get New Names, QX60 Hybrid Model
Changes Mostly in Name Only, Former JX Gets Hybridized
As we reported earlier this year, Infiniti did a top-to-bottom renaming of its entire vehicle lineup, making every car model a Q and every SUV a QX. For the most part, the major changes to Infiniti's SUV lineup are on their decklid badges, with the exception of the QX60 Hybrid, which like its Nissan Pathfinder cousin, gets a supercharged 2.5-liter I-4 combined with an electric motor for a net system output of 250 hp and 243 lb-ft, down just slightly from the 265 hp and 248 lb-ft of its non-hybrid V-6 counterpart. Here's a quick recap of the changes to Infiniti's SUV model lineup:
QX50 (Formerly EX37): Changes in name only. In dealers now.
QX60 (Formerly JX35): As noted above, a supercharged four-cylinder hybrid accompanies the 3.5-liter V-6 for 2014. Aside from the Hybrid and name change, content changes to option packages are the big difference for 2014. The Premium Package gets split into two for 2014 with the Premium Package and the Premium Plus package, the latter getting rain-sensing wipers. Power-folding third-row seats get added to the Deluxe Touring Package on V-6 models. All models get an auto-dimming rearview mirror and HomeLink garage door opener standard. Non-hybrid models are in dealers now, the Hybrid will follow in September.
QX70 (Formerly FX37, FX50): Infiniti's answer to the Porsche Cayenne and other performance-oriented rear-drive crossovers continues in both V-6 and V-8 form. The Limited Edition trim is dropped. Other than that, no major changes.
QX80 (Formerly QX56): Infiniti's jumbo-sized three-row SUV carries on, now designated as the QX80. Other than the name change, Backup Collision Intervention gets added to the Technology Package.
