2014 Toyota Tundra Production Underway

The New Truck, on Sale in September, Is Built in San Antonio, Texas

Allyson HarwoodAug 2, 2013
Production of the 2014 model-year Tundra began this week at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX) plant. The Tundra was engineered by Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and designed by the Calty Design Research centers in Newport Beach, California, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The pickup is built exclusively in San Antonio, and 75 percent of its content is North American. The new truck goes on sale in September.
Toyota started building Tundras at TMMTX in November 2006. This facility is also where Tacomas are built. The facility is capable of building 200,000 trucks a year there annually, and more than 2800 team members work there. All Tundra engines are supplied by Toyota's plant in Huntsville, Alabama, and those engines' cylinder heads and blocks are produced at Toyota's Bodine Aluminum castings plants in Troy, Missouri, and Jackson, Tennessee.
This September, the Texas plant will complete the one millionth vehicle built there. In October, TMMTX will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the plant's groundbreaking.
