2014 Lexus RX, GX Get Modest Price Hike

RX Line Increases by $100, LX 570 Up $250, GX Unchanged

Aug 12, 2013
It's that fall season again, which means next year's models are starting to roll into showrooms. Usually accompanying the new models is a price hike, whether they're all-new, unchanged, or modestly tweaked. In the case of Lexus' 2014 SUV lineup, it's mostly unchanged. Consequently, price increases on the 2014 models are just $100 over the 2013s, with the exception of the ultralux LX 570, which goes up to $82,690 for the new model year. The midsize GX 460 is unchanged for 2014, with the same $54,705 for the base model, and $59,500 for the Premium model.
The status quo on the GX pricing could be seen as further evidence that it will be ultimately be replaced by the rumored TX car-based crossover model, possibly coming sometime in 2014 as a 2015 model. It's still unknown whether the TX will be essentially a three-row RX, or a GS-based longitudinal platform, promising more engaging driving dynamics.
We're hoping it will the last, but a three-row model based on the RX would give Lexus a direct competitor to the Infiniti QX60. But a performance-oriented crossover would give Lexus a legitimate rival to the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz ML. What form will the TX take? We may soon find out as the auto show season kicks off.
