2015 Cadillac Escalade Reveal Confirmed for October 7
Teaser Image Shows Thinner LED Headlight, Promises "Bold, Evolutionary Statement"
The last of the next-generation General Motors full-size SUVs, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade, now has an official date for its reveal: October 7, 2013. The new Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon are expected to be revealed at the 2013 Texas State Fair in September, not far from where they're actually manufactured in Arlington, Texas. However, the Escalade's reveal is being saved for the Big Apple, New York City, where the Escalade has partially displaced the former "Black Car" fleet favorite, the Lincoln Town Car.
We know with certainty that the Escalade will continue to be a full-size, longitudinal powertrain, body-on-frame SUV, sharing the majority of its mechanical hardware with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. However, this time around, Cadillac is promising much greater differentiation in the interior, where past Escalades have shared a strong visual similarity with their working-class cousins.
The Escalade's traditional styling cues, such as vertical headlights, will carry forth, as this preview image shows, and there's a chance the previously optional full-LED headlights could become standard equipment. Overall, Cadillac is promising the new Escalade will make a "Bold, Evolutionary Statement" indicating it will be as big, sharp, and chromy as ever, with the appropriate changes to keep it looking fresh.
Mechanically, a direct-injected 6.2-liter V-8 producing at least 420 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque is expected to be the bread-and-butter engine, backed by either a six-speed or possibly eight-speed automatic. The 5.3-liter EcoTec V-8 used in the 2014 Silverado could be an entry-level engine option. Sometime down the road, the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V-6 that debuted in the 2014 CTS could possibly find its way onto the Escalade's option sheet if demand for the EcoBoost V-6 in the next Lincoln Navigator proves to be a popular option.
