Chrysler Recalls Ram Trucks, Jeep Grand Cherokees for Instrument Clusters

Illumination, ABS Module Issues Cited

Oct 2, 2013
Chrysler is issuing recalls on 132,000 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models, 91,559 of which are in the U.S., and 10,800 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks for intermittent instrument cluster illumination. In the case of the Jeep, the cluster is electronically linked with the anti-lock brake system module, and an issue with that module is believed to be one of the culprits causing the problem.
For the Ram truck models, the issue was discovered at the factory, and most of the affected trucks are still in dealer inventory. No accidents or injuries as a result of the issue have been reported in either case. The function of the gauge cluster does not affect vehicle driveability or safety in any other way.
Chrysler will update the instrument cluster software on both models at no charge, and affected customers will be notified by mail starting in November. For more information on the recall, and to see if your vehicle is affected, call Chrysler's recall hotline at 800-853-1403.
A recall was issued earlier this year for the Grand Cherokee for an electrical spiking issue affecting the parking and daytime running lights.
