2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition Hits North America
Yet another Jeep Wrangler special edition is ready to hit the trails. Jeep has announced that the 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show will make its way to North America, joining a Wrangler special edition lineup consisting of the Wrangler Dragon and Freedom editions.

While last year’s Arctic Edition paid tribute to the North Pole, the Wrangler Polar Edition pays tribute to Antarctica with its badges featuring the coordinates of Vostok, Antarctica -- the location of the coldest temperatures ever recorded.
Like the European version, the North American-spec 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition comes in the Polar-exclusive hue of Hydro Blue (silver and white are also available) and features the outlines of a mountain on either side of its Powerdome hood. Other unique exterior touches include a black-trimmed grille, a body color hardtop, and Wrangler Sahara wheels painted black. The only visual difference between the 2014 Wrangler Polar Edition and the one that debuted in Europe is the addition of U.S.-spec bumpers.

The black interior is trimmed in white, with white stitching on both the seats and steering wheel, and the HVAC bezels, passenger grab handle, and door armrests painted in high-gloss white.
Mechanically, the 2014 Wrangler Polar Edition is virtually identical to the rest of the Wrangler lineup. A 285-hp 3.6-liter V-6 is standard, as is a six-speed manual transmission. Jeep’s five-speed automatic is optional. Like the Wrangler Sahara, a Dana 30 front axle and Dana 44 rear axle is standard, while the Wrangler Polar Edition adds a limited-slip rear differential to the standard equipment list.
The Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition starts at $33,490, while the Wrangler Unlimited Polar Edition starts at $37,190, including the destination charge. The 2014 Wrangler Polar Edition hits dealers in November.
