Los Angeles Auto Show: What We Spotted on the Second Day
Top 10 Surprises, Hidden Gems, and Cool Trucks and SUVs
There aren't as many people on the show floor on the second media day of the auto show, so we took the opportunity to take a look around to see what we may have missed on the first day. Here are some of the gems:
Chevrolet unveiled its 2015 Colorado midsize pickup truck yesterday, and showed an extended cab and a crew cab during the press conference. Today, there was a third truck on display: an extended-cab outfitted for lifeguard duty.
Also in the General Motors portion of the auto show is an area where people can have their own photo flip books make. The backdrop was this cool Greenbrier van.
Toyota had a SpongeBob Squarepants edition of the Highlander. The entire back of the Highlander was an actual fish tank.
Galpin Auto Sports had a big display in Kentia Hall, where it showed several really cool trucks and SUVs. Here is the Back-Up Pickup, which was a drag-racing truck that looked like it was going backwards.
Also in that booth was this sweet 1966-1977 Bronco. We couldn't get a shot of it without a big post in the way, but you get the idea.
Who doesn't like the Mystery Machine? We certainly weren't expecting to see it at the auto show, but there it was. This van would make anyone smile.
Another one that was blocked by a post was G.A.S.'s cool Tonka Truck concept. It's based on a 2012 F-250 with a Power Stroke under the hood.
There's something about the Land Rover LR4 that makes people want to explore the back country. We spotted this one, complete with rooftop-mounted tent, grille guard, and camo graphics.
We are always happy when we see an International truck on display at a show. This one is part of Harley-Davidson's Motorcycle Boot Camp, a program that teaches people to ride motorcycles.
This Ford truck at AAA's booth is a cool vintage Ford tow truck. It is in excellent condition and has a beautiful paint job. It also happens to be a dualie.
