2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Designers Point Out Details - Video
Focus on Function, Aerodynamics Drove Design
When you're at the top of your game, it's easy to get complacent, and assume you'll always be king of the hill. But GM didn't let its success in the full-size SUV segment go to its head. The new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe is an all-new design that builds on the strengths of its predecessor, but also focuses on efficiency, practicality and aerodynamics.
Design has plenty of subjectivity and nuance, and the terms "athletic" and "sculptural" are used to describe the interior. But the designers didn't simply go on a voyage of aesthetic self-indulgence in the design of the new Tahoe. Features such as increased storage in the doors and console, and incoming call information displayed in the gauge cluster give drivers real-world benefits.
One of the noteworthy features of the 2015 Tahoe's exterior is the hidden rear wiper, which retracts into the rear spoiler when not being used. A big departure for the 2015 Tahoe and other GM full-size SUVs is that they do not share any exterior sheetmetal with the full-size trucks, including hood, fenders or door panels. They do share their engines, however, with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 being the bread-and-butter offering for the 2015 Tahoe and Suburban, and the 6.2-liter available on the GMC Yukon Denali and Cadillac Escalade.
