Michelin Recalls Tires Fitted to Ford Commercial Trucks, Vans

Tread Separation Reported for Tires

Dec 17, 2013
Michelin is recalling 1.2 million commercial light-truck tires manufactured from January 10, 2010, through June 23, 2012. The tires were primarily fitted to Ford E-series vans and some large pickups. The company has received 20 complaints of tread/belt separation, which could lead to air loss or sudden catastrophic failure. No deaths or serious injuries have been reported in conjunction with the incidents.
The tires were produced at Michelin's plant in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada, and can be identified by model, DOT sequence, and production periods. The tire model is the Michelin LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 115/112R LRE, DOT Sequence B3JH AKEX, and DOT Production periods 0210-2512.
If you own a vehicle equipped with these tires, you can take it to a Michelin tire dealer for immediate replacement. Owners of vehicles originally equipped these tires will be notified by mail. The recall campaign will officially begin January 6, 2014. Concerned owners can call Michelin Consumer Care at 800-231-5893, or NHTSA's vehicle safety hotline at 888-327-4236.
