2014 Ford Transit Connect EcoBoost EPA-Rated up to 22/30 MPG
The 2014 Ford Transit Connect has received EPA estimates across the entire small commercial van lineup. The numbers reveal highway fuel economy as high as 30 mpg, and city fuel economy up to 22 mpg for models equipped with the optional 1.6-liter EcoBoost I-4.
Two engines are offered in the 2014 Ford Transit Connect; a 2.5-liter I-4 producing 169 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque, and a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost I-4 making 178 hp and 184 lb-ft. In the XL Van and XLT Van trims, 2.5-liter-powered models are EPA-rated at 21/29 mpg (city/highway), while models with the EcoBoost are rated 22/30 mpg. The passenger-friendly XL Wagon and XLT Wagon trims are rated at 20/28 mpg with the 2.5-liter, and 22/29 mpg with the EcoBoost. For passenger models, the EcoBoost is only available on the Wagon XLT. The range-topping Titanium Wagon, which adds standard features like front and rear dual-zone climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-wrapped steering wheel, CD stereo system with SYNC, USB input and rearview camera, and heated leather-trimmed front seats, is rated at 20/28 mpg with the 2.5-liter engine.
Ford provided the infographic below, which lists a few quick facts about the small van like max towing and payload capacity and cargo space. There's also a chart that shows the EcoBoost-powered Transit Connect's potential fuel savings over competitors like the Nissan NV200 and Dodge Grand Caravan-based Ram C/V. According to the chart, which assumes you'll drive 15,000 miles a year, with 55 percent city driving, and with $3.30-per-gallon gas, Transit Connect EcoBoost buyers would save $250 over the NV200, which is EPA-rated 24/25 mpg. The savings would be even greater at $1750 if stacked against the Ram C/V, which is rated at 13/18 mpg.
