Motorsports Park Chosen for Elevation Changes, Turns

Edward A. SanchezFeb 6, 2014
Traditionally, a sport/utility's worth and reputation was staked on its off-road capability, with low-range four-wheel drive and high ground clearance being prerequisites among many adventure-seeking buyers. SUVs have gone mainstream, and a smaller percentage of buyers are looking to go rock-hopping. But tractive ability in foul weather is still a strong selling point of SUVs of all sizes and classes, and for buyers in regions with harsh winters, is more of a requirement than a luxury.
To demonstrate the winter driving capability of the new 2014 Nissan Rogue, the company invited journalists to Quebec's Mecaglisse circuit in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci. The reason the facility was selected for the hands-on demonstration was for its elevation changes, and multiple turns, to better demonstrate the integration of the Rogue's all-wheel-drive, braking, and steering systems, rather than just a frozen lakebed, or straight, flat road.
The Rogue's all-wheel-drive system and winter driving capabilities impressed even experienced winter driver Franck Kirchhoff, co-owner of the Mecaglisse track, saying the handling was confident and sure even without the help of studded tires, which are often used in the winter months by some drivers. You can watch the 2014 Nissan Rogue conquer the snowy turns of Mecaglisse below.
