Performance Parts Announced for 2014 BMW X5
Both Performance and Appearance Accessories offered for Redesigned SUV
Buying an SUV used to mean giving up any semblance of dynamic performance, sacrificing the joys of driving to utilitarian needs. But today, there are dozens of agile, fun-to-drive SUVs of all sizes. One of the best in our experience for those who can afford it is the BMW X5. Now in its third generation, the X5 now offers improved performance and utility with a lighter curb weight as well as a third row. But for those who want their X5 to stand out from the crowd, BMW is offering a selection of appearance and performance accessories for the 2014 X5.
For fans of carbon fiber, the X5 is available with accessory mirror caps, a front splitter, rear diffuser and rear aero flaps. A rear spoiler, gloss black kidney grille surrounds, and M Performance rocker panel badges are also available. Split-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels round out the exterior accessories.
On the inside, the carbon fiber theme continues with an available Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with carbon fiber accents, and a carbon fiber gearshift lever cover. But lest you think these parts are only for sidewalk profiling, a Power Performance kit is available for the xDrive35i model, bringing horsepower to 320 and torque to 332 lb-ft. This can be combined with an M Performance exhaust system as well as a performance brake kit with six-piston calipers based on the last-generation X5 M.
